Simple and inexpensive sample enrichment or filtration

For sample preparation for AOX analysis(AOX-400), different modules with standard-compliant operation are available depending on the method and number of samples, which can also be used for automatic sample preparation for AOF, AOCl, AOBr and AOI for subsequent determination using c-IC (AQF-5000).

AOX enrichment module30:

Who needs sample preparation modules?

Companies that want to carry out AOX or AOF measurements. The substances to be analyzed are usually contained in the sample in very low concentrations and cannot then be measured. Sample preparation is used to carry out a so-called concentration.

Is there a safety risk when handling samples?

Yes, there is a risk when working with wastewater, sewage sludge and soil samples, as it is never known exactly what substances and materials they contain.
However, the finished samples on the carbon columns are virtually harmless to the user. Nothing outgasses from the samples as the hazardous substances are bound in the water. Nevertheless, always wear personal protective equipment.

Modul AOX-Anreicherung30

Automatische AOX-Anreicherung an Aktivkohle nach gesetzlich vorgeschriebener  EN ISO 9562 bzw. DIN 38409:

  • Homogenisierung feststoffhaltiger Proben
  • Adsorption der Probe an Aktivkohle
  • Waschen mit Nitratwaschlösung

Die einfache Konstruktion mit wenigen mechanischen Teilen ohne komplizierte Ventiltechnik erlaubt eine hohe Betriebsbereitschaft und Zuverlässigkeit. Die streng kontaminationsfreie Probenaufgabe ist für die präzise AOX-Analytik von großer Bedeutung. Die AOX-Anreicherung30 verhindert den Kontakt der Probe zu Ventil oder Spritze. Dadurch  sinkt die Wahrscheinlichkeit einer Verschleppung oder Querkontamination. Die AOX-Anreichung30 reinigt sich durch variable Waschvolumina mit Nitratwaschlösung nach jeder Probe (2,5 bis 50 ml) selbst.

Mit einem zweiten Anreicherungskanal kann die Geschwindigkeit der Probenbearbeitung verdoppelt werden.

Auch für Proben mit hohen Salzgehalten kann die AOX-Anreicherung30 automatisiert werden. Gegenüber der manuellen Abwicklung spart dies erheblich Zeit und erhöht die Produktivität Ihres Labors. Die AOX-Anreicherung30-SPE erledigt die AOX-Anreicherung an Aktivkohle für Wässer mit hohen Gehalten anorganischer Halogene (> 1 bzw. 5 g/l) nach DIN ISO 9562 / DIN 38409-H22. Auch dieses System ist mit zwei parallel arbeitenden Anreicherungskanälen verfügbar.

Folgende Schritte werden automatisiert:

  • Konditionierung der SPE-Kartusche mit Methanol und Wasser
  • Adsorption der AOX-Proben mit hohen Salzgehalten an Styrol-Divinylbenzol-Harz
  • Waschen der Kartusche mit Nitratwaschlösung
  • Elution mit Methanol und Wasser
  • Adsorption an Aktivkohlesäulen
  • Waschen mit Nitratwaschlösung

We do not use peristaltic pumps, which make it very difficult to work in compliance with the standard. According to the standard, the water should be passed over the column at a rate of 3 ml per minute. Due to the particle load of the samples, more powerful pumps are required to deliver the required volume flow. Another advantage is that we have no valves in the sample path. Particles can therefore not get stuck in the valve or be carried over into the next sample. Ceramic filters instead of the polycarbonate filters often used also make handling much easier and you save costs as the ceramic filters are much more durable.
